Shepherd Compello is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Senior Underwriter to its Transportation division. Matthew Wheybrew joins the team this week and brings a wealth of experience in transportation and knowledge of the market to his new role.

 

Matthew brings almost 20 years of experience to the role, having specialised in US markets and transportation for 16 years of that. During his career, he has worked as an Underwriter, Quality Control/Wordings Technician, and Open Market Technician, bringing a diverse understanding of underwriting risks, governance and compliance, and the operational side of policies. In his most recent role, Matthew has focused on underwriting new and renewal business within agreed authority levels as well as building and nurturing partnerships to acquire new and existing business opportunities.

 

Matthew’s specialisms sit within Auto Physical Damage and Motor Truck Cargo, as well as having specialist knowledge in Excess Motor Truck Cargo, Dealers’ Open Lot, and Garagekeepers’ Legal Liability; all of which he will be focusing on in his new role at Shepherd Compello. 

 

With the transportation division of the business growing, Shepherd Compello’s aim is to deliver superior service and turnaround time to their valued clients. To fulfil their growth journey and deliver on their promise to clients, they are pleased to announce the promotion of Charles Gayton to Underwriting Assistant as well as welcoming two new Underwriting Assistants to the team, Laura Clothier and Leanne Broadhurst.

The team will be led by Steve Hart, who heads up the Shepherd Compello team as Chief Broking Officer. Steve is highly experienced in delegated authority, having a range of diverse experience as both an underwriter and broker, spanning over 38 years. His ambition to refine and expand skills within the division is the key driver behind growing the team.
